Prathyusha Institute Conducts Training Programme on Solar Radiation and Assesment

Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management, Tiruvallur, TN, recently established Solar Radiation Resource Assessment (SRRA) and Advanced Measurement Stations (AMS) Stations by the Centre for Wind Energy Technology, Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. These centres house sensitive and expensive solar and meteorological sensors where safety and security of the instruments is ensured. The institute also conducted a two-day training programme on ‘Functioning and Maintenance of SRRA stations’ where S Gomathinayagam, Executive Director, Centre for Wind Energy Technology, Chennai, inaugurated the programme. G Giridhar, director, MNRE and Unit Chief, Solar Radiation Resource Assessment, organised this programme. PM Beulah Devamalar, Principal, welcomed the gathering and the speakers who participated were B Amudha, Scientist-D, RMC, IMD; Devanathan, Project Engineer, SRRA, CWET; KN Sheeba, Assistant Professor, Chemical Engineering, The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchy; Indradip Mitra, Senior Technical Advisor, GIZ, New Delhi and Sri Vidhya, Director, Periyar R&D Centre for Solar and Bioenergies, Periyar Maniammai University, Thanjavur.

Hallmark Business School celebrates fourth Graduation day

Hallmark Business School, Tiruchy, recently conducted their fourth Graduation Day at the college premises. Over 50 PG students received their graduation certificates. R Ramesh, director, welcomed the gathering and addressed the gathering. J Jayaraman, secretary, inaugurated the function. G Viswanathan, founder-chancellor, Vellore Institute of Technology University, Vellore, was the chief guest. S Dasarathan, Senior Professor, hosted the ceremony. G Swarna Shree, of batch 2011-2013 who secured sixth rank in Anna University examinations (state level), second rank among business schools (state level) and first rank among all colleges in Tiruchy zone of Anna University, received a medal, certificate and `50,000 cash award. MVJ Group and BASE Educational Services launch integrated PUC

MVJ Group of Institutions, Bangalore, launched an integrated Pre-University College (PUC) programme with BASE Educational Services, Bangalore, recently at the MVJ College of Engineering campus in the presence of HS Nagaraja, Founder and Director, BASE Educational Services. The college will help students prepare for exams like CET, COMED-K, JEE-MAIN, and AIPMT. The first batch has already stared this month. Among those present were the new PUC students, parents, the senior management of MVJ Balachandar, Chairman, MVJCE; Varun Melanta, Director and the MVJCE staff. The speech was followed by an Orientation programme by academic head of BASE.

Corporate honchos address students at MDI

Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, held an Induction Programme from June 18-24. This was organised to welcome the new batch for their graduate programmes — PGPM, PGP-HRM and PGP-IM (2014– 2016). The event was inaugurated by Mukul P Gupta, Director, MDI. Jain University launches MSc in Industrial Biotechnology with Biozeen

Jain University Center for Post Graduate Studies launched MSc Industrial Biotechnology programme, in collaboration with industry partner Biozeen at a one-day symposium organised in Bangalore. Prof M Vijayan, INSA Albert Einstein Professor, Molecular Biophysics unit, IISC was the chief guest at the launch. IIT-M signs MoU with Technip

Technip in India and Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) recetly signed an MoU. The MOU was signed in the presence of Philippe Barril, President and COO, Technip. The signatories were Prof Nagarajan, Dean, International & Alumni Relations, on behalf of IIT Madras and Samik Mukherjee, Country Head and MD on behalf of Technip in India. K Shanker, Director Onshore Business and D Manohar Devadoss, VP, Operations, Technip, Prof Harikumar and Prof Anantha Subramanian, IIT-Madras, R Jayasanakaran, COO, Chennai Center were also present.

New institute of PSG & Sons

PSG & Sons’ Charities presented their 30th institution — PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research, located at Neelambur, Coimbatore. UG engineering programmes in Civil, Mechanical, EEE, ECE and CSc is offered. Intake is limited to 60 each. Admissions are through Anna University counselling (65 per cent) and management quota (35 per cent). Fee is under `50,000 and `70,000 for both these intakes respectively for a year.

Indian Navy and Centurion University sign MoU

The Indian Navy and Centurion University of Technology and Management, Bhubaneswar, signed an MoU to provide training for Indian Navy personnel and educational opportunities to their wards in various programmes of the Centurion University, initially, for a period of 10 years. The MoU allows reservation of seats for children and wards of Indian Navy personnel in various engineering, management, agriculture and basic science programs of the university at bachelor and postgraduate level with concessional course fee. Additionally, it has the provision to offer customised refresher and specialised courses for the Indian Navy personnel. During the signing in ceremony at INS Chilka, Bhubaneswar, the Indian Navy was represented by the Naval Officer-in-charge (Odisha), Commander Rakesh Kumar Dahiya and his colleague Captain CS Panda, Senior Education Officer. Centurion University was represented by Prof Haribandhu Panda and Prof Kalyan Banerjee, Pro Vice Chancellors, Prof Sibakripa Bose, Chief Mentor and Prof Smita Mishra Panda, Director, Research.
