IIT-Kharagpur, West Bengal

The Agricultural and Food Engineering Department offers a two-year full-time MTech in aquacultural engineering. The course content includes fishery biology and fish culture techniques, open channel hydraulics and coastal engineering, design of aquacultural facilities and equipment, planning and design of aquacultural projects, water quality, water resources system analysis, etc. Engineering graduates with a competent GATE score can apply online.

Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha

Administered by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the institute is also the lead centre under the network of aquaculture centres in Asia Pacific operating under the FAO of UN. It is well-equipped with labs for breeding, fish genetics, culture, nutrition, physiology and pathology and aquaculture engineering. The institute undertakes research, training and consultancy. MSc and PhD students can carry out research here.
