Yash Likes to Mind His Own Business

Yash Mehta is truly living the life of a manager. This first-year MBA student from Jain University’s Centre for Management Studies B-School attends college by day and heads to his automobile accessories outlet in the evening to manage it.

“I manufacture front guards for sports utility and multi-utility vehicles. While the manufacturing unit is in Mumbai, I have a factory outlet here in JC Road and two others in Chennai and Nasik,” says Yash, who got involved in this business since high school with the support of his father. The JC Road stretch in Bangalore is known for automobile shops.

Yash hails from Mumbai and his business is named Yash Auto-Tek. While he spends the day in college getting management lessons, persons appointed by him look after the business. “It is a cash-and-carry business. For the products sold in the morning, I collect their payments after I finish college around evening. I keep my stocks on Tally,” says Yash, whose role is “monitoring the activities.”

Although his MBA programme has made it difficult for him to look after the business, Yash says he feels compelled to remain involved. “I have to do it as our suppliers have supported us,” he says. Yash plans to specialise in Marketing and Human Resources to help him manage his business better.

As a student, Yash takes care of his expenses independently. “I totally depend on my business for everything. All my expenses, such as installments for my student loan, go out of my own account,” he beams.
