Breakfast on Call

Providing young professionals food in the comfort of their homes
Breakfast on Call

Piping hot breakfast remains a dream for many professionals who live away from home, and a city like Bangalore has many who crave a satisfying meal. The best ventures these days are the food tech and food delivery startups that are coming up in droves. Two youngsters, Taru Raaj Agarwal, 23, and Udit Saran, 27, have taken it upon themselves to solve the pressing problem of serving breakfast to young professionals. With seed funding from friends and family, the cousin duo started EatOnGo Food Services Pvt Ltd in February this year and currently have a team of 30. With options like brunch, English and Indian breakfast, salads, sandwiches and burgers, the team has a kitchen that uses standardised recipes, and has delivered more than 30,000 meals so far.

Taru, who takes care of the marketing at EatOnGo, worked with Myntra and Capillary Technologies after he studied engineering at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology. Udit is armed with a BTech in Food Technology from Bundelkhand University. A maudlin conversation on how they missed the much craved ‘maa ke haath ka khaana’ prompted the duo to start this business. “Our unique selling point is that there are no delivery charges and the menu ranges from Rs 50 to 200 only,” adds Taru.

With the confidence that people would pay if they really like the product, it is no wonder that they have broke even in their first month of operation. With more than 60 per cent repeat customers, EatOnGo is witnessing a 50 per cent month-on-month growth on an average. The venture, which started with a few hundred deliveries a week, now clocks more than 2,500 orders every week. “Our goal is to be the market leader in Bangalore city and then expand across India,” adds Udit.
