Man in Puducherry Arrested for Sexually Abusing Minor Daughter

The CWC recorded the statement of the minor victim and a complaint was forwarded to the Mettupalayam police.

PUDUCHERRY: Police arrested a 46 year old man for allegedly sexually abusing his own minor daughter over a period of time in recent months here. His 16 year son (juvenile) is also arrested for allegedly sexually abusing the minor girl (14), a student of the Government Higher Secondary School.

Police identified the man as A Joseph, working as a clerk in a private school. The victim’s brother, a 16 year old minor, a Polytechnic student, was also arrested. A case registered against the accused under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

The minor victim narrated her abuse to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and helpline officials, during their visit to the school some days back. The CWC chairperson, Dr Vidyaa Ramkumar summoned the girl and recorded her statement. She was the admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Women and Children Hospital, where she underwent counseling.

Sources said a few months back, A Joseph gave a glass of milk to his daughter, following which she lost her consciousness. When she recovered, she found herself naked and body suffered pain. 

Subsequently, the girl’s father, after showing mobile video of the naked body of her, threatened her to keep her mouth shut and not to tell about the incident to anyone. Joseph used to touch her private parts, thus sexually abusing her.    

Sources, said the girl‘s brother shot a video in his mobile while she was taking bath. Mirroring his father's technique, the victim's brother also threatened her to keep silent on the abuse, after showing her the video.

On several occasions, the minor victim narrated these incidents to her mother, but she did not pay proper attention to her daughter‘s revelations.

The CWC recorded the statement of the minor victim and a complaint was forwarded to the Mettupalayam police.

Police registered a case under POCSO Act and arrested Joseph and his son. The minor son was produced before the Juvenile court while Joseph was sent to Kalapet Central jail.
