TIRUCHY: DMK’s former minister K N Nehru surprised everyone on Monday when he brought his younger brother K N Ravichandran along for filing his nomination papers. Ravichandran is the proprietor of True Value Home, a Coimbatore-based real estate group.
After Nehru’s other brother K N Ramajayam, who was considered his shadow, was murdered in 2012, Nehru did not allow any of his family members to assist him in his political or business activities, and he often struggled to take decisions on critical issues alone.
Ravichandran’s entry has left party cadre on cloud nine as they now have a strong man backing Nehru. The decision follows continuous requests by his supporters and the fear of a setback in Tiruchy.
As Nehru filed nomination paper, Ravichandran accompanied him in style, reminding the cadre of Ramajayam. The excited cadre exchanged pleasantries with Ravichandran, who will be in Tiruchy to monitor election work in the constituency.
Apart from the two, Nehru has four more siblings – a brother Manivannan and sisters Gandhi, Roja and Uma Maheswari.
