WARANGAL:  Even while trying to persuade their disgruntled loyalists from leaving the party, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi leadership is keeping special focus on Parkal constituency with the main objective of defeating Konda Surekha on her own home turf. If sources are to be believed, senior leader KT Rama Rao is showing personal interest in the constituency and has taken up on himself the responsibility of ensuring Konda Surekha defeat and victory of TRS candidate Challa Dharma Reddy.

Rama Rao, according to sources, has been personally monitoring the poll campaigning in the constituency and extending complete support to party candidate Challa Dharma Reddy. He is also said to be leaving no stone unturned in his attempt to stop loyalists of Konda couple from leaving the party. Meanwhile, Dharma Reddy and his followers are said to be trying to project Konda couple as rowdies and land grabbers.

They are warning the people against voting for Sureka, saying if she wins, the Konda couple will make their lives miserable as they did to the people of Warangal East.

Kondas confident
The Konda couple, on the other hand, always in touch with their cadre and people of Parkal, seemed to be very confident of winning the Parkal seat. Undeterred by the allegations being made by TRS leaders, they are going ahead with their campaigning in constituency.

Surekha, who belongs to Vanchanagiri village in Parkal constituency, had won twice from Shayampet constituency (currently Bhupalapally) and once from Parkal Assembly segment in 2009. However, she resigned in 2011 and lost the 2012 by-poll when she contested on a YSRC ticket. She has a large number of loyal followers who always support her irrespective of the party she represents, thanks to her availability and accessibility to the people. Her husband Konda Muralidhar Rao, who has been playing a crucial role in her success, also has a huge following among youth and the downtrodden.

Konda Surekha has also been lambasting rival candidate Dharma Reddy and TRS government for their failure to provide jobs to the youth and construction of double bedroom houses in the constituency. She has also claimed that Dharma Reddy that he worked hard to develop his contracting business. However, political observers are of the opinion that this time it would not be easy for Konda Sureka as Challa Dharma Reddy in last four years had developed his cadre and even managed to attract a large number of Konda loyalists.

TDP Warangal Rural district president Srinivasa Chary claims that TDP still has a loyal vote bank in the constituency.  Locals, however, are of the opinion that Konda Surekha would emerge victorious.
“Their working style is different. Till the last day the opponents will be in an impression that he has edge over them, but when the result comes they emerge victorious,” said a villager in Parkal.
