Will Ghattuppal mandal issue work against TRS in Munugode?

With discontent growing among the local population, TRS chief is said to have expressed his displeasure, following which Prabhakar has stepped up his campaigning game.

NALGONDA: After being pulled up by party supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao, TRS candidate K Prabhakar Reddy has intensified his campaigning in the Munugode constituency. Prabhakar Reddy, according to the people, has failed to visit the constituency leave alone taking up any development works after 2014.

With discontent growing among the local population, TRS chief is said to have expressed his displeasure, following which Prabhakar started visiting the constituency. But it looks like his efforts are too little and have come too late as the locals are still unsatisfied.

Besides all these problems, there is another major issue, concerning a new mandal that is likely to have a huge impact on the results. Prabhakar has been opposing the local people’s demand for new Ghattuppal mandal. In fact, during districts reorganisation, the State government has released gazette notification for formation of Ghattuppal mandal and even initiated action for establishing various mandal offices. But Prabhakar Reddy is said to have intervened in the matter, leading to the government’s next notification cancelling the new Ghattuppal mandal plan.

Following that notification, people from Ghattuppal, as well as five surrounding villages, staged several agitations. TRS leader KT Rama Rao too promised to ensure establishment of new mandal. But so far no steps were taken.

Against this background, and thanks to good work he has done in past, Congress candidate Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy is said to be having an edge over other contenders. Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, who is an MLC now, served as an MP of Bhuvanagiri after winning 2009 polls.
