HYDERABAD: Two and a half weeks after the YSR Congress party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was attacked at Vizag airport, his mother YS Vijayalakshmi on Sunday claimed that there were attempts to attack him earlier when Jagan was amidst thousands of people during his ‘Padhayatra’. Ahead of Jagan resuming the ‘Praja Sankalpa Yatra’, she urged his attackers not to resort to such acts and appealed to people to protect him.

Addressing media persons on Sunday at the YSRC party headquarters in Hyderabad, Vijayalakshmi said that though they were forewarned that there might be an attack on Jagan, they were unable to take action.
On October 25, a person by the name of Srinivas, who used to work as a waiter at a canteen in the airport, had attacked Jagan. The YSRC chief received a minor injury on his shoulder. YS Vijayalakshmi said that his life would have been in danger if he had been cut at the throat.

“We have doubts over how a person can sneak in a knife into airport where high-security measures are observed. We hold doubts against Srinivas and the canteen owner too.”

“We have no faith in the investigation that is being carried out into the attack as the Andhra Pradesh DGP and Chief Minister began diluting the case even before the probe had even started. We demand probe by a central team,” accused Vijayalakshmi.
