HYDERABAD: When prime minister Narendra Modi returned to Telangana almost after a year on Tuesday, this time for addressing a political meeting at Nizamabad ahead of the ensuing polls, the 68-year-old was at his oratory best in mesmerising the crowd with his sharpest attack on chief minister and TRS party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Amid rousing gathering of supporters chanting Modi-Modi, the BJP star campaigner likened the TRS party to Congress in many a ways. While accusing TRS chief as someone who has destroyed the state that was formed after sacrifice of several youth, Modi went on to mock Rao saying, "it is good he dissolved the assembly early, at least you can get rid of your difficulties a little early."

Calling Rao a liar who misguided people, Modi reminded all about KCR's promise of providing drinking water in each household. "Dint he say he wont seek votes if he does not bring River Godavari water to each and every home? If you (KCR) cannot get even water, you have no right to continue," Modi thundered. He also equated Nizamabad to one of the most backward areas in the country struggling for water, power and roads.

The chief minister and family, Modi said, believes Congress has not done anything to develop the country and yet ruled for five decades. "The chief minister is following the footsteps of Congress. The times have changed. Forget 50 years, you cannot govern for 50 months if you have not done anything for the people," he jolted, calling Chandrasekhar Rao as someone who has taken his apprenticeship and training from the Congress party.

"Those who (KCR) learnt from are the ones who have done PhD in destroying the country. Do you want to give them a chance?," he asked. He also reminded all, "When madam's remote-control government was in power, this man (KCR) was also a union minister in that government who has eaten the salt of the Congress."

He went on to say that Congress has never been able to return to government for almost 40 years in states where they were routed from. He cited examples of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil  Nadu,
Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Gujarat to prove his point that Congress has never been able to return to power. "Do not give a chance to those who have destroyed the country. Give BJP a chance," he appealed.

Modi did not shy away from taking a personal dig at KCR's beliefs in "numerology and astrologers". "The CM is so insecure that he believes in numerology, astrologers, the lemon and chilli superstitions. He is so insecure on what could happen if a Modi scheme is implemented in the State and didn't go with us in implementing the (Ayushman Bharat) scheme," Modi said stating that none from the State got benefited of the Rs 5 lakh insurance cover while three lakh people across the country got the benefit.
