Priyadharshini is on cloud nine these days. After winning the 'Maanada Mayilaada' season 2 title, her focus is more on what she does best, anchoring and acting. “I was very happy and excited when Bala and I were announced winners. Of course, I was confident as we thad opped in the semi finals. We received 1,12,000 SMS votes,” quips Priyadharshini.
“More than me, my son Rishi is very happy. He was telling me right from the beginning that I would definitely win,” says the actor.
It was during her college days that she bagged her first assignment as an anchor. “My first show was 'Malarum Mottum'. It’s been a decade now. I am happy about the characters I play. Right now, I am anchoring shows for Kalaignar TV and acting in serials Vasantham on Sun TV and 'Rekha IPS' on Kalaignar TV. “My character Gomathi in Vasantham has got a very good response. It started as a small track, but the father-daughter sentiment clicked really well. I play a very simple and poor girl in the serial,” the actor informs.
Though the actor did so many serials, 'Kanavugal Ilavasam', 'Ethanai Manidargal' and 'Vizhudugal' are close to her heart. “I received the Mylapore Academy award for best actress for 'Ethanai Manithargal'. Even now people recognise me as 'Ethanai Manithargal Vasanthi',” says the actor.
As she has been on small screen for over a decade now, what does she think about serials then and now? “There’s a cost difference now. I always felt serials look monotonous but you can’t help it. I personally saw a lot of old people watching these serials and these is their only companion.”
So, what is she planning to do with her prize money of Rs five lakh? “I don’t have any plans now but will do something good and useful. I am also getting a lot of offers for dance shows,” says Priyadharshini.
