A bad guy with a difference

Known for his negative character in the television serial Arasi, Subramaniam (Subbu) got a good recognition for his acting skills in his debut appearence in the small screen. Son of producer Panchu Arunachalam, Subbu got into the production side of filmmaking in his teens. “I acted in a Malayalam movie in my seventh standard,” says 'Nalla Thambi' of Arasi.

Though his character in the serial is named Nalla Thambi, Subbu plays a bad guy giving troubles to the protagonist Arasi. “Raadhika is my mentor. When my character was introduced it was not a big one, but it has got a good scope now,” says the actor, who will debut in big screen soon. “The shooting will commence in January or February. I have planned to act in a negative lead role. The producer might be one of my friends,” says the actor, who is well-versed in technical aspects behind the camera.

“Arasi has given me the confidence in acting. The only thing is I lost my privacy. People recognise me wherever I go. After watching my character, dad said ‘you are doing a good job, concentrate well. Whatever scene it may be, start working on it a day before the shooting itself. Try to stand out from the crowd  and that’s how you can win,’” says the actor.

He adds, “I was eagerly waiting to meet Raghuvaran as people said my height and my role reminds one of him. But unfortunately I couldn’t meet him.”

Nalla Thambi’s role is more famous for his fast delivery of dialogues. “I was just delivering dialogues like I used to talk. Seeing this, Samudrakani (director) said speak in the same manner and I continued it,” says the promising actor.
