FOR Anil Kapoor it was time to get nostalgic when he was finalising the cast for his upcoming release, ‘Short Kut - The Con Is On’. For his own production he wanted the cast to be perfect. And he’s glad that he got it right the moment he saw Amrita Rao.

“I saw Madhuri (Dixit) in Amrita (Rao). In addition to a striking resemblance, Amrita has Madhuri’s innocence too”, says Anil Kapoor who has worked in a dozen odd films with Madhuri. “Amrita has the kind of vulnerability that goes well with the character of Mansi that she plays in the film. I saw her in ‘Vivah’ and was very impressed. I knew then and there that she was a star in the making. As someone who looked very Indian and conservative Amrita was the perfect choice for the role.”

The actor/producer is happy that the cast of ‘Short Kut - The Con Is On’, is perfect. “The best thing about my production is its cast. I am very proud of bringing together Akshaye Khanna, Arshad Warsi and Amrita Rao. I can’t imagine anyone else in their respective roles”, says Anil. “Mansi is someone who is becoming a big star. Amrita has the looks and personality of someone who could play the role of an upcoming actress on the verge of being a big star. She has done an amazing job. See for yourself when the film hits the theatre.”

He is happy with the response to the film’s music which has just landed on the stands. “We started off with ‘Patli Gali’ which has done well as a promotional track. ‘Kyun Hota Hai Dil Deewana’ too has just come on air. Amrita’s new look in the song is already the talk of the town. Didn’t you have fun watching Arshad trying so hard to dance? The number will surely bring the house down. It suits the film’s situation so well”.

However, the songs that he is most excited about are the romantic track ‘Kal Nau Naje’ and his item number with Sanjay Dutt, ‘Mareez-E-Mohabbat’. “Watch out for them. They are the highlights of the film”.
