About Tum Mile...
As a person who has grown up on such big scale disaster flicks, I wanted to bring that kind of cinema into Bollywood. July 26, 2005, floods in Mumbai, changed me as a person. I was also the victim. The sight and sounds of that night were bizarre. The city that never slept had come to a grinding halt. For a second you have this near death like experience when you see nature come down upon you. So I thought why not make a film out of it and portray the average citizen and his emotions on that day.
Soha's new face
Praising the ‘Rang De Basanti’ heroine, Kunal says, “I needed a fresh as well as experienced actress and Soha fitted the most in the criteria. She is a versatile actress and needed to recreate the deluge and had to shoot in water for over 12 hours a day for Tum Mile, but rather than throwing tantrums, Soha showed exemplary levels of energy on the sets.’’
Emraan turns painter
Emraan's role in Raaz-The Mystery Continues and the one in 'Tum Mile' is completely different. The painter in my film is more real, considering its backdrop (Mumbai floods) and for that Emraan got into the skin of the character. He trained and learned all the required techniques. He has done loads of hard work.
Do you think Indian audiences will accept a film like Tum Mile?
Well, it’s too early for me to comment on this but what I want to say is 'Tum Mile' is an Indian story, it’s not different from our crowd. We have all faced such situations in some or the other way. I am just keeping my fingers crossed and wish that my audience likes this film.
Upcoming projects
I am still in the process of finalising my script.
Final message
Please do watch 'Tum Mile' not because it is my story or I have made it, but because it is very natural and a story based on common ground that could be based on anybody’s life. I am confident that my audience won’t be disappointed and they will surely like it.
