With her beautiful rendition of many songs in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, she has wowed her audience many times. Her most notable song was for the recent movie Pazhassi Raja. Vijitha started her musical journey at the young age of three under the tutelage of her father who is a violinist. She started learning the nuances of Carnatic music at this young age and trained under Geetha Devi Vasudevan, then became a disciple of Santha Subramnaian and she is now under the guidance of Binni Krishna Kumar.

With more than seven years of experience in playback singing, Vijitha is now exploring her vocal chords in the world of ghazals. She started her career as a playback singer by singing for the title song of the Malayalam version of the famous Tamil serial Kolangal. Since then, there has been no looking back for this lovely mother of one. “The biggest moment for me was when I did a voice test for Illayaraja sir for his symphony Thiruvasagam. I was feeling extremely nervous. He sensed it and helped me feel at ease. I have learnt a lot from him,” she informs in her mellifluous voice.

With a  desire to chalk out her own path, Vijitha has been exploring her talent, singing for films, TV serials and conducting live shows. Living next door to the famous Chitra is another added advantage, “I am very fond of her and she is very helpful. I get tips on singing from her and I have always tried to incorporate her advice while singing,” she says.

In recognition of her talent, Vijitha has been awarded the Mahaa Awards 2007 for the title song of Kolangal, the Tamil Nadu Cinema Kalamandram 2008 for the best upcoming female play back singer and the Alandur Fine Arts and city club 2009 awardsf or Mayandi Kudumbathur.
