Anu Chowdhury, who had starred in the Telugu film 'Subha Mela', speaks to Express News Service about her journey in films .
Career in cinema is risky:
I am convinced that I was wise in choosing acting as my profession. However, I also agree that there is a lot of insecurity in the glamour world. But, it depends on how an actor carries her image and attitude towards cinema as a career.
Challenging roles:
There have been many. However, I am instantly reminded of the character of Kalpana in the award winning movie 'Kathantara' that was based on Orissa Super Cyclone. I must also mention that I thoroughly enjoyed acting in Rajashri Production’s 'Sasughara Chalijibi' and the just released 'Pahili Raja'.
Stint in Bengali & Telugu films:
It has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It was also educating for me.
Oriya film industry
I am proud that we have our own industry. One thing that I would wish to see here is a change of our mindset for the betterment of our cinema. We have to be open minded. Further, I am looking for quality films in our language.
Entry of Bengali artistes
Our girls have been thoroughly professional and cooperative. And I must say that I am not at all worried about entry of actors from outside. After all, talent and hard work matters to any artiste.
Any dream role?
Not exactly. As an actress, my only desire is to accept all the challenges and give my best to prove my versatility.
Shifting to Mumbai
It is helping me professionally as I am getting offers now. But I have not left Oriya film industry. I am in touch with both Ollywood and Bollywood. After all, all of us should try to have a taste of other Indian film industries.
Marriage & career
Marriage is an important relationship in one’s life and one must not condemn it in the name of profession. It depends on how one handles it. I never confused my personal life with the professional life. And that helped me to carry on despite the setbacks.
