SHE is better known as ‘Friends’ Vijayalakshmi after she played the role of Vijay’s sister and Suriya’s love interest in the Tamil film, Friends. And post the success of Boss Engira Baskaran, where she played the role of Nayanthara’s sister, Vijayalakshmi is back in the reckoning. But the actress has no time on her hands to celebrate, the reason being her foray into the small screen as a host of the reality show, Vazhvai Maattralaam Vaanga on Sun TV. When asked about the reality show, she says “This is my first reality show ever on games.” I have done the Kannada version of Thanga Vettai. And I feel that the experience with small screen is good. I have been associated with the small screen for nearly nine years and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. Being associated with television has its own plus points, as you can work on more projects if you plan well. And you are also occupied most of the time. When it comes to films, there are only two or three schedules for a fixed point of time and it gets over soon.” What next after Boss...? “Thambi Kottai with Prabhu Ganesan, where I have got a meaty role to perform.” Vijayalakshmi who started her career as a child artiste in 1991 with a Telugu film, forayed into full-fledged roles at the age of 16 with the Kannada smash hit, Nagamandala. She was cast as heroine opposite all the leading heroes and completed about 25 films in Kannada. “But my heart is close to Tamil cinema.

Here is where I stay and want to be and my heart is here,” she says with a smile.

The actress has faced her share of controversies as well, especially about her marriage .

“The rumours floating around that I am married, are false.

There is no truth in it,” she says.

And she refuses to divulge details about her clash with Nayanthara who ‘slapped’ her when shooting for the film. “I would not like to comment about it.

And I want to forget it. All that I want to say is there are instances in our lives where we face such situations. It is all a passing phase.”
