CHENNAI: For Piaa, ‘Ko’ came as a surprise. “I didn’t know anything about my role in the film until the first day of the shoot. I was told by assistant director Karthik that KV Anand watched ‘Goa’ and appreciated my performance,” says Piaa and adds, “I got a call from Karthik asking me to come to Chennai and meet the producer and director. But I ended up coming straight to the shooting spot on the first day.”

Piaa plays a journalist along with Karthika and Jiiva. “KV Anand told me ‘Don’t do any homework. You’re quite naturally bubbly and cheerful. I want you to be more energetic and lively throughout the film.’ I want to do homework and I’m longing for such a character,” laughs the actor.

“I’ve never been to a newspaper office. When a set like that of a newspaper office was erected, it was lovely to work in it; I loved the atmosphere,” says Piaa, who has now become friends with her co-stars Jiiva and Karthika.

“Karthika and I live in Bombay. So we still keep in touch. The team was very young and full of energy on sets. Right from the beginning we know that we were working on a superhit movie,” says the actor.

Piaa got to shake legs for two songs in the film. “Though I danced a little for a song in ‘Poi Solla Porom’, I never got a chance to dance really well. All my film songs were romantic and melody numbers. But in ‘Ko’ there’s one party song, ‘Aga naga’, and I enjoyed dancing to the steps of choreographer Brindha. She understood my body language and gave me the steps accordingly,” says Piaa.

“Ko is going to become a hit film. I’m waiting for its release and feedback for my character. I know that I’m very slow but I’m steady. I don’t want to have any regrets after signing a project or for not having done a satisfying role. Now that I’ve done six to seven projects here in South, I know what kind of scripts to choose from,” says Piaa and adds that she would hear scripts and would select one that’s convincing and satisfying for her.
