KOCHI: The revenue officials are finding it difficult to seize the properties of actress Lissy Priyadarshan as directed by the District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth. The Collector had earlier given a directive on May 25 to the actress asking her to provide Rs 10,000 to VD Varkey as per the rule for the protection of parents and senior citizens.
Though the Collector had given order to seize the properties, the revenue officials conveyed that the procedure would take time.
Muvattupuzha RDO R Maniyamma said that though she received an order from the district administration, it was not an easy task.
“There are many procedures that have to be followed. As far as my knowledge Lissy does not have any asset in the state. Hence our primary task is to inquire about the details regarding her properties outside the state. We will be able to issue a revenue certificate based on the details thus collected. These procedures will definitely take time,” she said.
RDO added that it would take time to sort out the legal hassles involved in it.
The actress has reportedly denied the paternity claims of Varkey and refused to heed the District Collector’s order saying that she has not seen her father in the entire life.
She also denied to heed the order saying that she did not know a man named Varkey. The name of her father in the school certificate is George and not Varkey, she said.
Acting on the complaint lodged by V D Varkey that Lissy had not obliged to the directive, the District Collector ordered to seize her properties.
Lissy’s father had abandoned her mother after she was born and she was raised by her mother. It was based on the petition filed by Varkey that his daughter had abandoned him that the court directed the actress to pay Rs 5,500 per month to Varkey. When Lisy refused to pay the money, Varkey approached the Collector.
