'Mad Men' wins Primetime Emmy for best drama

LOS ANGELES: American television series ‘Mad Men’ won best drama while ‘Modern Family’ bagged the trophy for best comedy series at the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy awards.

Set in an ad agency in New York, ‘Mad Men’ revolves around the most prestigious ad agencies at the beginning of the 1960s, while ‘Modern Family’ is a funny take on dysfunctional families.

British period drama ‘Downtown Abbey’ won the Emmy for the best mini-series at the gala event Sunday.

Kyle Chandler won Emmy for the best actor in a drama series for his work in ‘Friday Night Lights’, a series that talks about problems faced by Texas football players and their loved ones, while Julianna Margulies bagged best actress in a drama series for her work in ‘The Good Wife’.
