Malayalis might vaguely remember her role in Fazil’s ‘Kaiyethum Doorathu’. She forayed into Tamil, Kannada and Telugu industry as well and is best known for her item number ‘Kodana Kodi...’ in ‘Saroja’. She is currently in the news for all wrong reasons. Nikitha  was reportedly banned from Kannada films for three years starting from September 10 by the Kannada Film Producers’ Association (KFPA) for an alleged illicit relationship with actor Darshan. The ban was implemented after Darshan’s wife accused that he had assaulted her and in her complaint, she suggested that Nikitha had been responsible for his violence. However, the KSPA lifted the ban following pressure from the Kannada film industry’s first family of late thespian Dr Rajkumar. The multilingual actress Nikitha wants to take her mother to shooting sets to avoid any more controversies.

Excerpts from the interview.

n Are you feeling relieved after the KSPA lifted the three year ban?

My stand has been vindicated. I have not done anything wrong. I don’t know why my name was dragged into the controversy. I was shocked when my name was linked with Darshan and when the producer’s association banned me for three years for no wrong of mine. I thank all those who supported me during this crisis. I love to continue acting in Kannada films and will soon be resuming the shooting for the remaining films.

n What is your take on linking your name with Darshan’s domestic issue?

I have nothing to do with the problems between Darshan and his wife Vijayalakshmi. Some people with vested interests unnecessarily dragged my name into the controversy.

n Do you want to visit Darshan who is undergoing treatment at the hospital?

Why should I? There is no need for me to visit him. There are people who are ever ready to mistake my gesture.

n When can your fans and sympathisers see you in Sandalwood again?

In October. I love to act in Kannada films. I will soon resume shooting for the movie, ‘Cottonpete’ opposite Aditya.

n Actress Sanjana advises heroines to avoid casual talk with heroes, especially with those who are already married, at the shooting locations. What is your opinion?

What is wrong with talking to heroes who are married? But I don’t want to get involved in any controversies in future.

n How do plan to avoid such controversies from resurfacing in the future?

In the future, I will take my mother to all the shooting spots. My mother was with me during the shooting of ‘Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna’ opposite Darshan.

n After all these controversies, do you plan to get married?

My first priority is to come out of this trauma. As far as my marriage is concerned, my mother will decide when I should get married and to whom.
