Noureen DeWulf on Hindi cinema, and Charlie Sheen

Noureen DeWulf on Hindi cinema, her character Lacey from Anger Management and Charlie Sheen

Noureen DeWulf may play a bold and wild character on TV, but she says she is a simple girl at heart. As for her superstar colleague (on Anger Management), Charlie Sheen, she says, “It’s Charlie Sheen after all. You can’t go beyond that. Plus he’s very edgy and treats me with a lot of respect.”

For the uninitiated, the fun series on Comedy Central is about Charlie Goodson (Charlie Sheen) who is sentenced to anger management counseling with an instructor. DeWulf plays a student, Lacey, on the show.

So the first day on the sets must have been something, we wonder. “I was awed by him. He complimented my outfit. I was too shy to say anything,” she confesses. Though she admits to being the opposite of her onscreen character, she is enjoying the experience. “She is funny, wild and fashion forward. She does unlikeable things but you will still like her,” she shares, hoping for her own show where she can be herself.

The actor of Indian origin loves Hindi cinema and hopes for a role like Hema Malini’s in Seeta Aur Geeta. “I have grown up watching Hindi movies and I speak pretty good Hindi,” she says. DeWulf has Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and Coffee Kill Boss to her credit and is working on They Came Together with Paul Rudd.

It’s strange that when it comes to her telly favourites-it’s Game of Thrones, Homeland and Dexter-there is no comedy. “It’s like watching what I do,” she concludes.

Anger Management airs daily on Comedy Cental at 11 pm.
