KOCHI: It's haute and happening right in our city. Come Saturday and those dying for a wardrobe makeover can get an eyeful of the trendy at KingFisher Goodtimes party.

Snazzy models will set the ramp on fire at Glow, the lounge bar at Harbour View and will take you on an exciting journey into the world of fashion. The ‘Hot off the runway’ collection will display trendsetting designs by Abdul Halder and Chaitanya Rao who made ripples with their chic designs during the Lakme Fashion Week 2009 in Delhi. “With this show we plan to take fashion beyond Delhi and Mumbai,” says Ramesh Menon, choreographer and director of the show. “The show will be exciting as it’s been over a decade since national designers have showcased their designs in Kerala,” says Ramesh, a leading fashion consultant in the country who started his journey into fashion with the late Rohit Khosla and is now on a mission to promote the rich repertoire of Indian textiles with 25 young designers in the country. The show sponsored by Kingfisher will have 35 to 40 designs each of Abdul and Chaitanya.

Abdul started his career designing for Michael Jackson in 2002, moved on with Italian fashion house SB Italia and has done shows across Europe and West Asia. He is the only designer who showcased his collection at the United Nations General Assembly, New York, in 2008.

Chaitanya, who is based in Chennai, is dubbed the Manish Malhotra of Kollywood. He is renowned for styling the who’s who of Tamil cinema and Bollywood divas. He has designed for Asin, Shreya, Trisha, Jyothika and Simran.

He has also worked with leading ladies in Bollywood including Kareena Kapoor, Amisha Patel, Priyanka Chopra, Isha Koppikar and Reema Sen. Chaitanya is the only designer from the south who has had his garments shot in Paris for Vogue India. The show is special for the designer as it will showcase a preview of his forthcoming September Lakme Collection. The show will have top models like Faith Panday, Femina Miss India South 2009; Sherin Sam, Ford Super Model 2009; Madhumita De, Gladrags Supermodel 2007; Deepthi Varughese, Miss India World Wide and Rohini Mariam Idiculla, former Miss Kerala, walking the ramp in chic attires.

The show promises a night of masti unlimited with DJ Chico from Dubai who rocks Kingfisher parties across the country. The two-hour fashion show will be a precursor to Kingfisher’s Dream Boat event planned to be held along with the Nehru Boat Race on August 8 which will have celebrities from across the world.
