CHENNAI: The word luxury has taken a new meaning; the perfect holiday experience has been given a new dimension. To celebrate this massive re-branding, Fisherman’s Cove threw a big party, far below the cloud cover that forced the organizers to look up to the sky even after the celebrations went underway.

What better occasion for Wendell Rodricks, a master who dresses up people with unique cuts and shades, to showcase his new ‘Eye Candy Party Animal’ collections?

Agrees Wendell, and says, “I was very clear that the collections shouldn’t be like the ones on Lakme Fashion Week,” he says, and continues, "These clothes are perfect for people who want to wear something on a luxury holiday.”

The fashion show, which was held on the open lawns, in front of the exquisitely furnished new rooms, was splendid, for not just the clothes. The setting itself was perfect, postcard-like with palm trees. It was also an opportunity for Taj, to present brand Vivanta to the world. Use of technology will make a difference, we are told through an audiovisual presentation. And Veer Vijay Singh, the COO of Vivanta by Taj, reiterates, “We want to cater to the new-age customer.”

And how.

The cars will have massage seats and fitted with play stations! After the splendid fashion show, the guests were herded to the beach for the after party. Hip Pocket, a Jazz n Rock band from Kolkata, took centre-stage and never allowed the guests to rest on their seats. When Elvis Presley came to the party, the guests indulged in Rock and Roll. The food on offer was interesting but it wasn’t the food that people were after.

The Cuban cigar counter that offered mild and strong imported cigars turned out to be the most sought after. One guest whispered, “Where do you get this in Chennai?” To which his friend said, “That one is very difficult, unless you go to Cuba.”

But by then Vivanta had arrived in Chennai, with the best of Chennai.
