WASHINGTON: Despite taking retirement from movies, it does not stop George Lucas weighing in occasionally about the new films.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the creator of the ‘Star Wars’ universe still has one main area of interest in the franchise – the Jedi.

In an interview at this year’s ‘Star Wars’ celebration Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy revealed that once in a while he (George) whisper in her ears about Jedi and Jedi training.

Fans were really shocked at the legendary Luke Skywalker’s refusal to return to the fight.

Writer-director Rian Johnson promised the movie will justify Luke’s pledge.

He noted, “I only know one truth — it’s time for the Jedi to end.”

Although his original story treatments for where the saga might go have gone largely unused, Kennedy said some of the broader ideas are still providing the foundation, like handing off the heroism to a new group of characters.

Helmed by Rian Johnson, ‘The Last Jedi’ stars Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, John Boyega and late Carrie Fisher in pivoal roles.

The flick is slated to hit screens on December 15.
