Netflix, the online streaming site has co-developed marijuana strains based on some of its original shows. The series of strains called 'The Netflix Connection' are based on shows like 'Wet Hot Ameican Summer: Ten Years Later', 'Arrested Development', 'Orange is the New Black' etc.

The collection was unveiled to promote the service's show, 'Disjointed', which is about a marijuana dispensary. Of the blends, three are named inspired by the show. The service was available only in Los Angeles till August 27th and all those in India delighted to see the title can follow the progress in the country here.

The Netflix press release reads:

“Each strain was cultivated with the specific shows in mind, designed to complement each title based on their tone.” “For example, sillier shows may be more indica dominant, while dramedies will be more sativa dominant to help the more powerful scenes resonate.”

The strains are named according to the theme of the show and some follow like this - (Name of Strain: Netflix Show)

Poussey Riot: 'Orange is the New Black'
Moon 13: 'Mystery and Science Theatre 3000: The Return'
Camp Firewood: 'Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later'
Banana Stand Kush: 'Arrested Development'
Baka Bile: 'Santa Clarita Diet'
Prickly Muffin: BoJack Horseman

Considering that film projects like Kevin Smith's 'Tusk' have previously developed cannabis strains ('Mr. Tusk and White Walrus') to promote their movies and moreover the Proposition 64 of 2016 made the use of cannabis for non-medical adult use legal in California, the trend is to follow.

The cannabis strains was presented at the Alternative Herbal Health Services event in Los Angeles, reports Indiewire. Legal marijuana card-holding customers could avail the products for a price range starting from USD 50 (for 3.5 grams).
