A moving tribute was paid to late Chester Bennington and Linkin Park by actor Jared Leto at 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

NEW DELHI: A moving tribute was paid to late Chester Bennington and Linkin Park by actor Jared Leto at 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

But, the tribute made the fans really angry with the network as they cut the segment short.

The actor took the stage and recalled his relationship with Bennington and said, “Chester was my friend, as he was to so many, and witnessing his life taught me important things, especially about working relentlessly, perusing dreams, and being kind and caring while doing it. When I think about him, Chester, I see his face, which was always smiling. I think about his heart, which he wore on his sleeve.”

After sharing a supportive message, Leto introduced a video clip of Linkin Park and Bennington performing at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

After a few moments, however, the broadcast cut to a commercial break.

Angry fans took to Twitter and slammed the music channel for the insensitive timed advert break.

Some of the reactions are:

A user wrote, “You cut to commercial in the middle of the performance part of Chester's tribute?! #VMAs.”

Another user tweeted, “MTV is going to hell for cutting off that tribute performance of Linkin Park #VMAs.”

“Why does MTV keep cutting away to commercials ESPECIALLY during that Linkin Park performance #VMAs,” wrote another user.

The Bennington tribute was not the only time MTV cut to break before the end of a performance.

Singer Julia Michaels had her VMAs appearance ended early, which drew outrage online.
