From the best picture blooper to a 'wedding', here are the best Oscar moments

No Oscar night is complete without its share of funny and bizarre events, and on that front, the Oscars 2017 had it all.

The hype and excitement surrounding the 89th Academy Awards was palpable as movie aficionados and fans all across the world geared up to watch the scintillating event.

The Oscars red carpet was filled with a lot of gold, shimmer and the usual reds and blacks. A couple of cute moments on the red carpet followed as the adorable actor from 'Lion', Sunny Pawar, posed for pictures with Dev Patel.

Speaking of Dev Patel, the actor brought his mom to the Oscars, which was a moment which ranked high on the heartwarming factor.

However, no Oscar night is complete without its share of funny and bizarre events, and on that front, the Oscars 2017 had it all. Here's a list of the five best moments from the event:

1. When the Oscars pulled a Steve Harvey

Nobody can forget when Steve Harvey wrongly announced the winner of the Miss Universe pageant, and nobody will ever forget how 'La La Land' was mistakenly called on stage to accept the award for the Best Picture... for five minutes! As bizarre as it sounds, the entire cast and crew of the movie were on stage giving an acceptance speech, only to be told that 'Moonlight' was the actual winner.

This is truly the mother of all botch-ups, and people everywhere were confused as to what was actually happening. Initially, there was confusion as to whether it was just a gesture of solidarity or if it was a tie (doesn't sound all that bizarre now, does it?), but then it was announced that it was all a huge mistake. Well, somebody's getting fired.

2. When Jimmy Kimmel made it rain candy and donuts

Ellen DeGeneres was in the news last year for getting pizza delivered to the Oscars for all the attendees. However, this year, Jimmy Kimmel took it a step further by not just getting candy and donuts for the audience, but also for making it rain on them!

The goodies were attached to tiny parachute-like things which magically fell from the sky. It was a rather sweet gesture, no pun intended. Can candy really make up for pizza, though? You decide!

3. When Sunny Pawar and Jimmy Kimmel re-enacted an iconic 'Lion King' scene

Jimmy Kimmel was quite the host as he interacted with a few of the attendees and spotted Sunny Pawar. After engaging in a bit of chit-chat with the adorable young actor, he lifted him up and re-enacted the iconic scene from 'Lion King' when Simba as a cub is lifted up for the reckoning.

Pawar, who obviously was supposed to be Simba here, even roared out like a lion. Anybody else looking at a future Oscar nomination for the boy?

4. When Nicole Kidman's 'weird' clapping style gave way to a plethora of new memes

Seriously, what was even up with this? It looks more like a sign of trying to communicate with one's home planet.

5. When Jimmy Kimmel took it upon himself to nominate Viola Davis for an Emmy Award

Viola Davis picked up the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in 'Fences', and the actress got emotional while delivering a speech on a stage. It was a truly moving moment until Kimmel came in and said that Viola should probably get an Emmy Award for the speech itself.

6. When Denzel Washington pronounced a couple 'Husband and Wife'

Host Jimmy Kimmel brought in a Hollywood tourist bus into the auditorium while the ceremony was taking place, out of which sprawled dozens of wide-eyed tourists who had no idea where they were. A couple had come as well, and the woman said that she was a huge fan of Denzel Washington.

Immediately, Kimmel suggested that perhaps Denzel should be the best man at her wedding.

Denzel, wasting no time, went over to the couple and said, "I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride."
