Nanda Kishore is all geared for the release of his upcoming movie Ranna by the end of February 2015. With the entire world focusing on the ICC Cricket World Cup which is scheduled to start mid February in Australia and New Zealand, Nanda Kishore remains confident in his film. “The World Cup won’t interfere with our film release because of the timings. People would want to get entertained by cinema and love to see their movie stars just as they like watching the game. Thus I will go ahead with my plans and release the film in February,” says the director.

Ranna starring Sudeep, Rachita Ram and Hariprriya in the lead roles has now entered the final stage of shooting and only two songs remain. “Both are romantic duets and  one song will be shot in Switzerland or Hongkong, depending on the weather and other one will be in Bengaluru. Since Sudeep will also get busy with the Celebrity Cricket League cricket matches which start from January 11, we plan to squeeze in the schedule between his CCL dates. Meanwhile, my post-production work is almost through. I am nearly done with editing and I need to finish up the final edit as well as the songs,” he says.

Ranna, which is touted to be a big-budget action film, has naturally put emphasis on its action choreography. In fact, the team just returned from Malaysia on December 30 after a hectic shoot for the heavy action stunts. The director in particular was very happy with the fights directed by Peter Hein, which he says were extraordinary. Hein is well-known for his action choreography in blockbusters from the South and has even been nominated for the prestigious Taurus World Stunt Award for his work. “While we thought that a foreign location would provide a new canvas for the action sequences, Peter Hein simply astounded us with his mastery. Hein was the fight master behind films like Anniyan, Magadheera, Ghajini, Endhiran, Robot, I, and Babubhali and has Hollywood capabilities as far as his action sequences are concerned. The film features fighters specialising in multiple styles from Vietnam and Peter has used them as well as the other actors to showcase all the stunts in style. We also had a kick fight choreographed by Ganesh master. There was equal participation and effort by Sudeep who has done some high-octane stunts in the film,” he says.

Ranna which is a remake of the Telugu movie Attarintiki Daredi will be a complete family entertainer and for the first time Sudeep will be seen with a star-studded cast comprising Prakash Raj, Madhoo, Devaraj, Rachita Ram, Hari Prriya, Chikkanna and Tabala Nani.

“The chemistry between Sudeep and Prakash is excellent and the latter (who reprises Boman Irani’s role from the Telugu version) fits the role perfectly. Though the film comes with an ensemble cast but they all work in their individual roles and serve their respective characters well,” says Nanda Kishore.

He is also all praises for music director Harikrishna’s work, especially the title song whose lyrics are written by Dr Nagendra Prasad and has lines like, Jungle me single sher, naam hai uska babbar sher. “We recently shot this song and its catchy lyrics as well as choreography by Imran Sardariya is sure to create a buzz,” says the director.
