MUMBAI: M Night Shyamalan’s ‘The Last Airbender’ earned infamy when it bagged five Razzies earlier this week. Next week sees the announcement of the third edition of the ‘Golden Kela Awards’ — the Indian version of the Razzies which award the worst in filmmaking.

With the list of nominees, the organisers added a caveat: “Akshay Kumar hasn’t been nominated for any Golden Kelas this year because the level of his ‘performances’ has fallen even below the standard of the Kelas.”

The worst film category has a staggering eight nominees: ‘Housefull’, ‘I Hate Luv Storys’, ‘Veer’, ‘My Name Is Khan’, ‘Tees Maar Khan’, ‘Aisha’, ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ and ‘Action Replayy’.

Besides worst actor, actress, director, most irritating song and worst debutante, there are some pretty quirky special awards, so look out for the results of the 3rd Annual Golden Kela Awards which will be hosted by Cyrus Broacha on March 12 in New Delhi.

Two categories of special interest are – ‘The Chimpoo Kapoor Award for No-Talent Relatives of Celebrities’ (Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Punit Malhotra, Aditya Narayan, Uday Chopra) and ‘3 Idiots Childbirth Award for Most Ridiculous Sequence in a Film’.

2010 was a year when it was easier to find the worst of rather than the best of Hindi cinema, so may the best film win the Golden Kela.
