CHENNAI: Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh suddenly disappeared from the scene at the beginning of the "Happy New Year" team's Slam tour in the US. He also quit the show India's Raw Star which he was judging and went completely underground. While Honey Singh's spokesperson and wife had said at that time that he was unwell and is taking a break from work, there was also speculation that Shah Rukh Khan had slapped Singh, and that had caused the rapper to leave the US tour.
Even though the singer's lyricist Yo, who has worked with him on several songs, has confirmed that Honey Singh and Shah Rukh have had a fall out, he has now revealed the real reason behind the disappearance of Honey Singh in an interview to a tabloid.
"He's [Honey Singh] still not made contact with the team of artistes he usually works with and has even changed his cell phone numbers. He told his team that he is taking a break to go home and spend time with his family. But instead, he checked himself into a rehab center in Chandigarh in October. We worked through the night on the lyrics of Aata Majhi Satakli. That was the last time I met him. I have never seen him use drugs while working. But the rest of the time he was always high," said Yo.
Honey Singh has been riding the high wave in Bollywood with many hit songs in the last few years. The news about his drug addiction would come as a big blow to his loyal fans. Singh's spokesperson though has now said that he should be back to work in another month.
Honey's lyricist also added that though Shah Rukh or Honey Singh may never come on record to speak about what went wrong between them, the truth is that they may never work with each other again. "Neither of them may own up to it but I don't think Honey Singh will ever work with SRK again," said Yo.
