MUMBAI: Filmmaker Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, who is married to "Dangal" fame director Nitesh Tiwari, says the couple take their success lightly at home.

Asked if it gets too much in a house with two successful people, Ashwini told IANS: "No, not at all, there is no ego. Success does not affect us as a couple; we are leading quite a peaceful life. And I have two kids, they are seven. So you know how it is once we enter the house, we kind of live through their vision."

"They are live entertainment for us, I learn simplicity from my children. Their innocence and energy keep our life simple and don't make it complicated with the glamour attached to our profession."

Having worked in the advertising industry for around 15 years, Ashwini made her first short film "Breakfast" in 2012 and bagged Dadasaheb Phalke Award before entering the world of Bollywood in 2016 with the film "Nil Battey Sannata".

She collaborated with her husband Nitesh for her forthcoming film "Bareilly Ki Barfi".

The title originated from a book named "The Ingredients of Love: A Novel" by French author Nicolas Barreau.

Did a well-written script make her work easy to direct the film?

"Well, in this kind of story, dialogues and quirky characters are important and yes it was well written. So, as a film director, it becomes my utmost important duty to make sure I am doing justice to their effort," she said.

The director said she cannot be casual.

"I can't be casual, thinking three good looking actors and our efficient cinematographer will do the rest. I tried my best to execute their vision on-screen," she added.

According to Ashwini, while the projection of realism is changing in Bollywood, a slow shift is happening where it is not just a star-driven industry anymore.

"These days, people want to know, even all the stars' fans want to know, which director he or she is collaborating with. Who has written the story? Their (audience) expectation gets higher, based on that, which is a great thing. Writers are getting their due respect," she said.

"Our audience started taking interest on the total package, the collaboration, therefore it is more than a star driven industry," Ashwini added.

"Bareilly Ki Barfi", featuring Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon is releasing on August 18.
