Recently, Prakash, the director of successful films such as Kushi, Rishi, Milana and Vamshi, had a tough time explaining the whys and hows of a special song in his forthcoming film Gokula. It seemed that entire Gandhinagar was discussing only one name, Ragini — the actress who turned heads with her dancing skills in Veera Madakari and who lost the chance in a Darshan-starrer since she has made a guest appearance in an item number in Gokula.

While many in Sandalwood sympathised with the young and enthusiastic actress, a few predicted her downfall, saying she should not have accepted the role in Gokula.

Denying such malicious gossip and allegations, Prakash, who is set to release Gokula next Friday, has said that the song was not what people label as an ‘item’ but a special one.

“I do not know why some people are misleading the audience by spreading rumours. I included Ragini in the star cast because of her dancing skills. I felt that she alone can do justice to the role. It is certainly not an item song,” Prakash said.

He said that it was not fair for some people to claim that it is that song which is responsible for Ragini losing the chance to act with Darshan. It may be recalled that Ragini had also recently clarified that it was not an item song.

Elaborating on Gokula, Prakash said that is about four orphans who take shelter at an elderly couple’s home. He said that the audio is an added value for the film which aims to cater to the tastes of the class as well as the mass audience.

“I have to thank lyricist Jayant Kaya - kani and music director Mano Murthy for the success of audio,” Prakash said.

While Srinivasamurthy and Sumithra act as the old couple, Vijayaraghavendra, Pooja Gandhi, Yash and Nakshathra are the main cast.

Gokula will be the first film for Nakshtra, the daughter of director D Rajendra Babu and character artiste Sumithra.

Nakshatra has said that she is waiting eagerly to watch Gokula at the theatre on Friday. “It is very special for me. I can never forget the memorable moments during the shooting of Gokula. I am paired with Yash in the film,” the actress said.
