The Kannada film Nayaka , which went to the sets in May 2009 and completed in October last year, is all set to hit the silver screen on December 17. Post-production works such as dubbing, re-recording and sound effects took almost a year for completion.

However, director P C Sekar says that he has no regrets, as far as the delay in the release of his movie is concerned. “It took us 75 days to complete the dubbing, since it required special attention. We have recorded the finest details, including the breathing sounds and as a result, we ended up spending more time on it,” says Sekar.

A software engineer, Sekar began his career as a director of documentary films. His movies, My Friend and My Imaginations have won awards at the London Film Festival. He also handled the megaphone for the Tamil movie Kaadal En Kaadale in 2006. Naveen, who made his debut as the hero in Sandalwood with the movie Nayaka , played the lead role in Kaadal En Kaadale . “The movie won the Tamil Nadu State Government award for portraying women in good light. I am the first Kannadiga to receive an award for directing a Tamil movie. Most of the character artistes in the movie were from Karnataka while Roma was the heroine,” says Sekar.

Elaborating the salient features of Nayaka , Sekar said that the movie is a perfect blend of romance and suspense. “The USP of the movie is its script. I have given more importance to the script because it inspires other aspects of the movie, including music, acting and the direction,” explains Sekar.

Expressing his happiness over the performances of Naveen and Ragini, the director said that Nayaka has provided a platform to Ragini, to prove that she can play a non-glamorous role as well. Rajendran, who played villain in the Tamil movie Naanu Kadavul , is the villain in Nayaka . Sateesh Kumar and Arjun are the music directors for the movie.
