BANGALORE: Most of us are aware of the bad blood between H D Kumaraswamy and G Janardhana Reddy in politics. Perhaps, inspired by the tiff between Kumaraswamy and Reddy, director T Nagesh has come up with a comedy, titled Rame Gowda vs Krishna Reddy.
The shooting of the film was held recently for 32 days in and around Bangalore. While artiste-cum-politician Shashikumar plays the role of Rame Gowda, Rangaayana Raghu acts as Krishna Reddy. Senior artiste Anant Nag plays the role of a gullible middle-class person.
“Many people are of the impression that Rame Gowda vs Krishna Reddy is about the political war between Kumaraswamy and Janaradhana Reddy. I want to make it clear that it has nothing to do with politics,” says director Nagesh.
What made him select this title?
“We earlier decided on Gowda vs Reddy but Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) refused to register it. Later, we changed it to Rame Gowda vs Krishna Reddy and now the KFCC has given its consent to the title. We have completed the shooting and the re-recording is in progress,” explains Nagesh.
The film Rame Gowda vs Krishna Reddy is about an innocent middle-class person Subbanna, played by Anant Nag. Gowda has his evil eyes on Subbanna’s house site that Subbanna bought with his hard earned money. Later, Subbanna approaches Reddy for help.
Rame Gowda vs Krishna Reddy is director Nagesh’s second film, who handled the megaphone for the film Olave Vismaya that was released a few months ago.
Roopesh, Roopasri, Jyothika and Sudha Belawadi are the other stars in the film. Gedhe Gelthivi fame Krishnavardhan Kulkarni is the music director for Rame Gowda vs Krishna Reddy. The song sequences of Rame Gowda vs Krishna Reddywere picturised at Lumbini Gardens and Sri Kanteerava Studios.
