BANGALORE: It was the celebration time for the unit members of Kannada film 'Naanu Nanna Kanasu'. They celebrated the film’s 125 days run at theatres across the state.
B Suresh, one of the producers of the film, hosted a party at Bell Hotel to celebrate the success. Artists join the celebration despite their busy schedule, as Sithara, who acted as Amulya’s mother in the film, has come down to Bangalore from Kerala.
Perhaps, 'Nannu Nanna Kanasu' is the second film of the year, which was screened for 100 days. The first film to reach this mark was 'Aaptha Mithra' and now, 'Krishnana Love Story' is trudging ahead.
'Naanu Nanna Kanasu' was withdrawn from Bhumika theatre on Kempe Gowda Road after completing 50 days. However, it was screened at Big Cinemas as well as Inox Mantri Mall for 100 days.
Prakash Rai, who has played multiple roles apart from directing the movie said that it has become difficult for a producer to pay theatre rentals. “While a few film distributors have monopolised some theatres on the KG Road, other theatres are not accessible,” said Prakash.
He said that the need of the hour was to construct as many theatres as possible in Bangalore and across the state. “More number of theatres avoid exhibitors exploiting film producers and distributors. I am not in favour of multiplex theatres but some infrastructure is needed for the benefit of Kannada film producers and distributors. What is the use of producing a film if the producer fails to release it at sufficient number of theatres?,” said Prakash Rai.
Expressing happiness over his maiden success as director-cum-producer in Sandalwood, he said: “It is my first film in Sandalwood as a producer. The success gives me an immense satisfaction.”
Producer Suresh handed over mementoes to all the unit members of the film on the occasion.
