Srinivas, who started his career as a milkman and graduated to become a social worker-cum-financier, made his debut as a producer with the film 'Mandakini' in 2007. Srinivas is the only person to insure the unit members of 'Mandakini' against any accidents during the shooting. Many opined that insuring unit members (technicians as well as actors) of 'Mandakini' was not necessary since its script was based on an illicit relationship between a man and his widowed
sister-in-law.
The film’s shooting took much time despite Srinivas’s brother-in-law being in-charge of the production. It was alleged that lakhs of rupees were misused during the making of the movie.
When the film was released, it crashed beyond redemption at the box office. Disappointed with the lukewarm response of audience to his much-hyped film, Srinivas had organised a press meet and presented a trophy of 'Mandakini' to the journalists and announced that he would not make films in future. Expecting some help, especially finance, many producers used to invite Srinivas either to sound the clap board or light the lamp during the muhurat functions of their films.
Apart from performing the assigned task, Srinivas used to advice those producers about how not to become bankrupt while making films.
However, Srinivas was back in business after buying the distribution rights of Shivarajkumar’s 100th film 'Jogaiah'. Unfortunately, 'Jogaiah' also failed to make Srinivas to smile with a pride.
Now, Srinivas is the producer for 'Alemari' in which Yogesh and Radhika Pandit are the lead pair. He had also announced to make a film with a peculiar title - 'Adda'.
If any one dares to ask him why has he changed his mind, he smiles and cleverly avoids a right answer.
It is also learnt that he had a dispute with Prem, who handled the megaphone for film 'Jogaiah', on 'Adda' issue. According to the grapevine, he has agreed to oblige Prem in return for distribution rights of film 'Adda'.
Like in politics, there are no permanent friends or foes in Sandalwood too.
