Meet lanky and beautiful Ragini Dwivedi who has the ability to make senior citizens younger by 20 with her dance number — Thuppa Bekaa Thuppa — in film Kalla Malla Sulla. It was learnt that many senior citizens had congratulated her for being generous and flexible in that item song which contributed a lot to keep the cash registers ringing for more than 50 days. They have also appreciated director of Kalla Malla Sulla for taking a bold decision to include the song Thuppaa Bekaa Thupaa.
Now, Ragini is geared up to set the silver screen on fire once again with her performance in film Aarakshaka.
Recently Ragini flew to Bangkok to film another song shoot. “It is an introductory song which has the lot of
potential to entertain the audience — class and mass irrespective of the age — while watching Aarakshaka,’’ narrates Ragini.
Recently, Gandhinagar was agog with rumours that Ragini wore a bikini for the song - Hogallo It’s My Lifestyle. Gandhinagar pundits as well as a few journalists became busy in conveying the sensational news of Ragini wearing bikini. With rumour mills working overtime to spread the news, Ragini’s well-wishers and friends started enquiring about the bikini. “It all started when a journalist wrote about it due to communication gap. I never expected it to be blown out of proportion,’’ says Ragini.
What was the costume? “It was a Victoria swim suit. There is no provision for exposure with that costume. It is an introductory song. What I can do if that journalist doesn’t know the difference between a bikini and a swim suit?’’ asks Ragini.
The actress is known for special dancing skills. Her performance in films like Veeramadakari and Kempe Gowda, had got her rave reviews.
Will she shake leg for an item number in future? “I do not know why the media considers a heroine’s solo song as an item number. Those songs are added to the film as per the requirement. As of now, I have no plans to accept item numbers and I will have no problems in future to accept them as well if the those item numbers are considered as an important ingredient of the script,’’ explains Ragini.
Is Ragini averse to wearing bikini? “What is wrong in wearing bikini if the script requires it? A director should not ask a heroine to wear a bikini just for the sake of wearing one. It should be an added value and certainly not a nuisance,’’ signs off the actress.
