Her agony is evident as is her shock. Actress Nikita Thukral, who has acted in several Tamil films like Saroja and Vetrivel Sakthivel, is clearly yet to come to terms with the news of the three-year ban that has been imposed on her by the Kannada Film Producers Association.

The ban, the association has claimed, is for “the problems” she has caused to erupt between Kannada actor Darshan and his wife Vijayalakshmi.

The decision of the association to impose a ban on the actress has come in for some scathing criticism from all quarters of the society.   Talking to City Express, Nikitha says,” I’m shocked and hurt by this decision. Even now, I haven’t heard from the association and have got to know of this decision of theirs from other places. I have tried calling up several people from the association but they are yet to return my calls.

When you are a part of the industry for nine years, you start treating the industry as your family. There have been many occasions when I have skipped family functions to be a part of films. And after all that, suddenly one fine day, they chose to impose a ban on me for no fault of mine.”   Adds the actress, “In the last nine years that I have been a part of the Kannada industry, can the producers show one complaint against me?  I have never been late or unprofessional. There has not been a single complaint against me and yet this ban has been imposed on me.”

So, will she contest the ban legally?   Says she,” I have no idea. But I need to know from them on what basis they decided to impose a ban on me.”

The actress, who has acted in several Kannada movies, is also a part of the Cheran-Prasanna-starrer Muran, that is to hit screens soon. Will the ban mean that she will act in more Tamil films now?

Says the actress, “I don’t know. Everything has been taken away from me. I don’t know what’s happening. But I am grateful for the support that several people have shown me. Several producers and friends have called up to express their support and condemn the ban.”
