Another remake of Bodyguard

BANGALORE: It is a re-make of Malayalam flick Bodyguard in which Dileep and Nayanatara were the lead pair. Later, it was made in Tamil as Kaavalan and in Hindi as Bodyguard.

Director Anand has religiously and faithfully followed the original version. He made a good effort to exploit the acting skills of Navarasa Nayaka and Minimum Guarantee artiste Jaggesh who played the lead role in this film.

Jaggesh has also tried his best to maintain the pace with Daisy Shah in dance sequences. His mannerisms in stunt sequences are a treat for the frontbenchers.

Among the heroines, Daisy Shah is one of the best. It is not that Spoorthi has failed in her acting skills. There is no scope for her in the film except mouthing a few dialogues and cautioning her friend about the

dangers of flirting.

The movie is about Jayakrishna (Jaggesh), fed up for working as a henchman to a local rowdy, decides to serve as a bodyguard for Ashok (Gurudut), a don. Ashok reluctantly accepts Jayakrishna as his bodyguard, thanks to a recommendation letter from the former’s astrologer.

Meanwhile, Ammu (Daisy Shah), the daughter of Ashok, decides to pursue higher education in Bangalore. To protect Ammu from his enemies, Ashok sends Jayakrishna to Bangalore as her bodyguard. Jayakrishna follows Ammu wherever she goes. Irritated by his behaviour, she tries to divert his attention by

making prank calls pretending to be one of the college girls who is in love with him. In the process, Ammu falls in love with him. What happens to Ammu and Jayakrishna is the climax.

As far as the performance of other artistes is concerned, Gurudutt is convincing as a don but it would be better if he himself dubs instead of depending on a dubbing artiste.

Sadhu Kokila’s dialogue delivery and body language gives the audience a hearty laugh. His tryst with Jaggesh and inmates of a ladies’s hostel provide the much needed relief for the audience.

Music director Vinay Chandra has done a good job so has  cinematographer Ashok V Raman.
