Another father promotes his son

There is no dearth of fathers promoting their sons as upcoming heroes in Sandalwood. Siddaraju has promoted his son Yogesh, who is affectionately called  Loose Maada by his friends, with the film Dhuniya.  Director S V Rajendra Singh Babu too promoted his son Aaditya as hero in the film Love. Many realtors have also promoted their children as artistes in Sandalwood. Then there were bar and restaurant owners and agriculturists who also made a futile attempt to promote their siblings as artists in Kannada film industry.

Producer Shailendra Babu is also busy promoting his son, Sumanth in Aata, with a tag line - Aatagu Sai Kissugu Sai. The movie is slated for release shortly. The latest in this category is Shanmuga Sundaram, an industrialist who made a vain attempt to become a hero more than 15 years ago with the film Aakarshane in which Bhavya was the heroine. Now, Sundaram is launching his son Vasanth as an actor with Akhaada. “’I had an ambition of making a good film. I was impressed when director S Shivan narrated the script of Akhaada. The hunt was on for a suitable artiste to play the lead role. Later, we decided to have my son Vasanth as hero. I sent him to Chennai to know the nuances of acting,”

explains Sundaram.

The film’s shooting was held at Chikmagalur, Madikeri, Golconda, Kolar Gold Fields and in and around Bangalore for 52 days. Akhaada’s audio was released recently. “We are planning to release the film shortly,’’ said Sundaram.

Shivan had also handled the megaphone for the film Hrudayadalli Idenidhu in which Rahul played the lead role. Heroine Nayana Krishna, who acted in film Kotlallappa Kai, is the heroine in Akaada.
