Kannada actress Nidhi Subbaiah might have believed that there is no difference between Kannada industry and Bollywood but she is definitely witnessing a sea of difference when it comes to the Hindi industry.
The actress is hopping from one city to another to talk about her film, Ajab Gazabb Love, which she considers as her first full fledged Bollywood venture.
“Ajab Gazabb... is my debut. I have visited at least visited 15 cities and have been interacting with thousands of people. I have had a fantastic response so far. To top it all, the film does not have a good opening because of the festive holidays,” says Nidhi.
The actress who feels that she got the warmest welcome with a hug from B-Town, is equally excited about her fans from Karnataka who have been tweeting and sending SMSes about her first Hindi film.
“Every person, who has tweeted or messaged me says that they are proud of me. It means a lot,” says this young heroine, who was specially excited when she received congratulatory messages from a couple of Sandalwood actors.
“Raghavendra Rajkumar messaged me and said that he was really proud of me. Also, Ramesh Aravind said that it feels good to see a Kannada girl doing well outside,” she added.
Though last Friday was quite a tensed day for the actress, a review by one of the famous critics in Mumbai gave her that extra mileage.
“I am still on cloud 9 with this sentence — ‘Nidhi enacts her part efficiently. Pretty looking and photogenic, she manages to make her presence felt despite the presence of experienced actors.’ It means a lot that I have got decent feedback from a good critic who the Bollywood industry vouches upon,” she says.
Not resting too much, Nidhi is already geared up for her next venture. “In the ten days, I will announce my next project,” reveals
Nidhi, who also clarifies that it would be outside Vashu Baghnani’s banner said that she is not really on a signing spree.
“I am really new here. I don’t know yet how Bollywood folks juggle between two and three films,” she adds.
Though Nidhi sees a bigger picture, personally nothing has changed in her life.
“My accent and me still remain a South Indian. Even people who meet me say so. Thankfully, this big leap has not changed me a bit and hope I don’t do it in the near future,” said Nidhi.
However, the actress chooses not to give any tips to those who want to make it to B-Town. “I found it very easy to enter Bollywood as I signed Ajab Gazabb when I was shooting for my Kannada film, 'Anna Bond'. Actresses who say that they don’t want to get into Bollywood are just lying as here the reach is wider and the frame is bigger and not restricted. But I don’t think I have come that far to give any advice to other actresses,” she signs off.
