With Parari, director K M Chaitanya brings to the screen, a film to tickle the bones, making his portfolio carry a three film package of different genres. Having dealt with action and romantic movies with Aa Dingalu which released in 2007 and Suryakanthi in 2010, he now delves in the comic genre.

“Even if I am doing ten films tomorrow, I want to do it in different genres. I want to challenge myself. I want to be known as a versatile director and I don’t want to get into a comfort zone,” says Chaitanya.

Directing a comedy film like Parari, Chaitanya confessed that it is a difficult genre to work. “It is easy to do serious or socially relevant kind films, but here it is difficult. If we win in comedy, we can do any genre,” he said.

On asking whether Parari, a comedy film, be referred as a story with a message, Chaitanya says, “I was rejected a state award because they thought my first film, Aa Dinagalu did not have any message. As the Swedish director Ingmar Bergman says, ‘If I was to give messages, I would have been a postman.’ I am not here to give messages. I primarily do films for experience. I am not making a pamphlet but a works of art.”

Being in the director’s chair, Chaitanya tries to bring out the best from newcomers and little known actors from the industry. He tells us about his star cast for Parari. “I work with actors and not stars.

I will go to a star only if he is a good actor. Newcomer Shrunga comes from a  theatre background. In fact he is in Germany right now to perform in a play. Jhanavi has proven herself on the stage. Today even before her first film release, she has got a Kollywood offer. Of course, Shubha Poonja and Shravanth have done a couple of films and both are good actors,” he said. After having worked with Ilayaraja in two films, this time Chaitanya chose Anoop Seelin to score music. “He has lived up to the expectation by rendering five different songs with different tones,” said Chaitanya

Following the trend of pushing in an item song, Parari too  has its highs. “I call it a sequel song and not an item with a very gutsy performance by Meghana Naidu,” he said.
