Even before the release, Roopa Iyer’s next is already a ‘hit’. Thanks to the burning off-screen controversy that is out of the bag. According to reports, actor Prem and the lady director are not on talking terms. The rift between the two was evident when Prem did not turn up at the press conference of the film last Monday. This gave way to a lot of rumours.
Apparently, the actor is upset that his co-star Yash, who is making a guest appearance in the film, is getting more publicity than him.
“It was very simple, she did not invite me personally so I did not attend the meet. Our differences started when Yash was given more importance. When I questioned her about this, she said, ‘I decide everything because I am the director and the producer of Chandra. This happened two weeks ago and I did not know what to tell a person who is not open to other people’s opinion,” he said. However, Prem is promoting the film in his own way. “I am also a part of the film and it is my duty to promote it. I am giving interviews to different channels and print media as and when I get a call. Roopa Iyer is nothing. She is just one film old and not that popular. This is her first feature film. The audience will only watch her film because of me,” he said.
The director feels that she has done her duty by promoting the actor. “Most of the Kannada actresses backed out of my project because Prem was playing the lead role. But I stuck to my promise as I wanted to work with him. Even when I approached Shriya and told her that she would be working with Prem, she simply asked me, who is Prem? Why not Puneeth or Darshan? It is not a low grade film. It is a film made with quality and big stars,” Roopa said and further added, “Prem should be happy as, through this film, he will be introduced to the Tamil industry as well. After all this, he is trying to act smart. I don’t like negative publicity. I like people who have mutual respect for each other. If he is creating a controversy out of this, it is his problem,” she says.
