Having been bitten by the cinema bug, several heroines today are taking the plunge from academics to the glamorous world of motion pictures. The latest to join the bandwagon is Praj Poovaiah who is back in Sandalwood with two exciting projects.
“Though Bheematheeradali had me in a small role, my next film Kithod Love Story will see me as a full-fledged heroine,” said Praj, who is paired opposite Rakesh Adiga in her next film which will be produced by Annaji Nagaraj and directed by Jagadish Shirshi. “I have also signed another film which will be a remake of a Tamil film titled April Mathathil. This film did well in Kollywood. Prabhakar who was assisting S Narayan will be directing this film and Naga Kiran will be the hero,” she added.
The film Kithod Love Story revolves around two people and it is narrated in the form of flashbacks. “Most of the movie has the hero and heroine interacting with each other. There are hardly any other characters in the film. I guess this will be a new concept for Sandalwood. The film will go on floors from May 15,” she said.
Praj got into tinsel town by chance. She was into modelling which again happened by accident. Initially, she was reluctant to consider a career in films as she had to complete her degree first. “My father insisted that I complete my education before I become an actress. Right now, I am in my last year of engineering and now I think I am capable enough to balance between studies and work,” she explained.
She has also made her entry into Kollywood with a few interesting projects. “I have just completed shooting for a Tamil film, Veteyadu opposite Hari. I did sign two more projects but had to reject them at the last minute because of my other priorities,” she said.
Besides, the actress feels that twenty is the right age to get into movies.
“I started my film career when I was 18 years old. Back then, I had no knowledge of selecting the right kind of films. I chose my projects purely on a trial and error basis. Now that I have got the hang of it, you will soon see me all over the place,” she said with a beaming smile.
