The film industry is truly a world of dreamers. Some achieve their aspirations and become legends, while some others get a temporary rendezvous with fame and there are still those who just fade away. Imran Sardhariya, noted Sandalwood dance choreographer, does not wish to be pigeonholed into any of these categories. He seems to be in pursuit of a whole new league — that of people who succeed and want to take their success into other domains. And he has already achieved it. Still ruling over the dance floor, he now wants a new chair — and one that belongs to the director.
His debut Endendigu - Ek Duje ke Liye is all set to hit the screens on May 1 and according to the choreographer-director, the romantic thriller explores the territories of love in a manner never before seen on screen. Apparently, the buzz is that Endendigu is inspired by the Hollywood series, Final Destination. But Imran disproves this theory and says, “Endendigu is a film based on a pure and chaste women and is based on the story of Savitri and Satyavan but presented in a modern way. It is all about love and commitment between a couple and their life. My story emphasises that a man or a woman is totally incomplete without the other. My intention is to make everybody fall in love and for those already in love, the film will feel like a homecoming,” he says.
Though he got a good release date, the director says that it was not quite planned. “I was not prepared for the release but it was my producer SV Babu’s decision,” says Imran. The film features Ajai Rao and Radhika Pandit in the leading roles. Speaking about his star couple, the director says, “Ajai plays the character of Krishna and every girl will fall in love with him. And I am sure, after watching Endedingu, every girl will want a companion like Krishna who understands her and all her mood swings. Ajai as Krishna is the personification of the perfect dream boy.”
According to Imran, Radhika has given a strong performance as Jyothi. “She plays a typical girl-next-door character who is quite ethical in her approach towards life. Radhika emotes beautifully with her eyes and she has elegantly performed throughout the film,” says Imran.
Surprisingly, Imran decided to shoot at a destination not quite popular with filmmakers. He says, “We zeroed in on Sweden and it is probably the first-ever Kannada film that has been shot there. The reason I chose Sweden is because of the climate, the landscape and the environment and of course, the fact that there are such few people around. We shot our scenes without any disturbance. In fact, Sweden will be the next hot honeymoon destination after our film is released. It is so beautiful because of its sparse population. We only got to see people during the weekends.”
According to him, another highlight of his film is Harikrishna’s music and this is his 75th film. “Endendigu opens with very good music and strong visuals. Every song is a pure combination of love and beautiful soundscapes. Harikrishna made it possible,” he says.
