In real life, Pooja Gandhi surely shares one positive trait with Lakshmi, the character she portrayed to critical acclaim in Dandupalya - confidence. So, even after dealing with the average performance of Abhinetri and the recent road accident which received unnecessary coverage, Pooja has not let herself be shaken.

Ever optimistic, Pooja is looking ahead and is excited to be part of Dandupalya 2 to be directed by Srinivas Raju. “After the success of Dandupalya, we were sure we wanted to make a sequel. But then I got busy with Abhinetri, which took longer than expected and Srinivas Raju had his own commitments. However, we were in talks for the past eight to nine months and now the project has worked out. The director is ready with the script and we felt that it was the right time for it to take off,” says Pooja.

She is now preparing to retain the look of Lakshmi.

“It was a film in which I could really experience the essence of being an actor. It was indeed a different feeling. The director is particular that I retain the mannerisms of the character,” she says.

The actress, who was to play the part of Veerappan’s wife in Muthulakshmi, states that she has opted out of the film. “Due to unforeseen circumstances, I will not be part of Muthulakshmi. Right now, I am looking out for a script to be made under my home production,” she says.

Road mishap

Talking about the recent accident involving her, Pooja states that it was a mistake, but she took extreme care to ensure that the victim, 50-year-old Varsha, was treated well. “It is something that can happen with everybody. Just because I happened to be a celebrity, the news grabbed attention. At the time of the mishap, I only thought of rushing her to the hospital. I attended to her and my father took over later. I have taken care of her treatment and made sure that she is out of danger. I wanted to see Varsha going home in a good shape,” the actress says. Pooja, who has been meeting Varsha regularly, also clicked a selfie with her, which she shared with City Express. The actress asserts that she never wanted to pay a price for fame and explains that her reaction to the mishap was like that of a normal human being. “It is called an accident because it was not done with intention. I went through fear and other emotions like everybody who goes through such situations. In fact it has only made me extra cautious,” she says.
