Having penned lyrics for more than 800 Kannada films as well as having written dialogues for quite a few of them, Kaviraj will now be directing a film that will be produced by Dinakar under Thoogudeepa Productions. The yet-to-be-titled film will have Amulya playing the lead and a fresh new face will be cast opposite her.
Confirming the news Amulya said, “After Male, I will be doing Kaviraj’s new film. I liked the script and it will be exciting to work under the Thoogudeepa banner. Male has just wrapped up and I am gearing up for the promos of the film before I join Kaviraj from April,” she says.
Dinakar too confirmed Amulya’s casting in his film. According to him, they were going in for a fresh face because of the script. “Our protagonist is fresh out of college and looking for a job. So, we had to look for a fresh face and we will conduct an audition on March 1 and 2,” he says.
Explaining the reason for going ahead with a popular heroine and a fresh hero, Dinakar says, “Two fresh faces is usually a marketing nightmare. When I did Jothe Jotheyalli, Prem was a fresher while Ramya was an established face and it clicked. Likewise I am confident about this casting.”
According to the producer, the strength of Kaviraj’s film lies in his fresh script which revolves around a love story. “The film will boast a big star cast, which we will be finalised before April end. Kaviraj is ready with the script and is writing another version only to bring out the best elements,” he says.
Others who have been finalised for this film include V Harikrishna as music director, while Taj Mahal Chandru will be the cameraperson, N Kumar will be the art director and Mallikarjun will be the co-director.
Dinakar, who has taken the production responsibility, is simultaneously concentrating on the script of Sarvantaryami, the 50th film of Darshan, which will be directed by him. “Darshan has three more films to complete before we start working together. I wanted to do something during the gap and so I picked up Kaviraj’s film,” he says.
Amulya’s Baby time
Meanwhile Amulya, has been keeping herself busy off screen by spending most of her time with her 8-month-old niece Yashvi, whom she adores. “She is my world right now and I am enjoying every moment with her. I haven’t seen a child in my house in 22 years. After me, it is her. While people still treat me as a kid, I am excited that there is a new baby at home. She has adjusted so well with me and likes my company a lot. If not on movie sets, I want to be home with Yashvi,” she says.
