Kannada actress Deepa Sannidhi has managed to create her own space in filmdom but it is not praise but recognition that the actress craves for. And she seems to have found it in Kollywood.
Having had a dream debut alongside Darshan in Sarathi and following it with Paramathma with Puneeth Rajkumar, Deepa has found comfort in the Tamil industry with her second film in the language ready for release. The actress who made a short visit to Bengaluru, told us, “I will be seen opposite Arya in Yatchan and I am eagerly looking forward to its release in August.” Her debut in Tamil was, Enakkul Oruvan, a remake of the Kannada film Lucia and she played the leading lady opposite Siddharth. But she is quick to rubbish speculations that she has moved on from Sandalwood for good. “Given the right opportunity, I would love to settle in Sandalwood. Being a Kannadiga, I am passionate about doing Kannada films, but I am not the kind to do every role that comes my way. I will do films that interest me,” she says.
In Sandalwood, Deepa was last seen in Endendu Ninagi, which did not garner much attention. Her other Kannada film Love Churmuri did not take off for unknown reasons.
“I listen to all kinds of scripts and I am open to working in good movies where the role is substantial. Then it does not matter if it is a big or small budget film. Love Churmuri was in fact with newcomers and I love working with a young team. Another reason for people to have a mind block related to my shift could be because I have a limited social life,” the actress says.
According to her, the industry is quite competitive today and even if an actor carries enough experience, he or she still has to start all over again to prove themselves. “Luckily, I had good roles in the Tamil films,” she notes. On the other hand, Deepa is taking time off to pursue her education and even try her hand in writing. “I am taking up films as a hobby and I also do other things. So, I am planning to study further and will also try creative writing,” she reveals.
