Director Preetham Gubbi’s Boxer, which will have its theatrical promo released along with Bullet Basya, is gearing up for the audio release of the film, which he plans to organise next week. The film will have Dhananjay flaunting a six-pack, but according to to Preetham, one of the many highlights of Boxer is the shoot in Chiang Mai, Thailand. “It is a culturally significant city about 700 kilometres north of Bangkok. I chose the place particularly because nobody has shot there before. Boxer will be the first Indian film to be shot there,” says Preetham.

According to the director, when he saw the place on the Internet during a location hunt, he was fascinated by the ‘whiteness’ of the place. “Everything is white there. The thought of shooting in the city was risky, production-wise. Especially for the cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman because I had the artistes wear white against the white backdrop. That became challenging but the shots have come out beautifully,” he notes.

But the director also points out that the team had plenty of restrictions. “It is a very busy tourist spot. We had permission for just one day to shoot in a temple there. To top it, we had to follow a lot of rules. The lead pair were not supposed to hug each other and so a close romantic shot was ruled out. In spite of all these restrictions, Preetha and choreographer Harsha shot the scenes well,” he says.

The music album has four songs written by Yogaraj Bhat, Jayant Kaikini and Pavan Wadeyar. Music is directed by V Harikrishna. “The songs will assert that Boxer is not just an action film but has a love story in it,” he says, hinting at an August release.
